The Calm Before The Storm

shit, school's starting

As July approaches quicker than I had anticipated, the reality that is my senior year of college becomes more real with each waking minute. It seems like just yesterday I was moving into my VERY FIRST dorm room, meeting my roommates, and saying goodbye to my parents as I began my freshman year at Illinois State. I was 18 years old and spent most of that first semester trying to maintain a sparking GPA, my high school weight, and a healthy weekend drinking habit. It didn't all work out exactly the way I planned. School was hard, eating healthy sucked, and finding someone to buy me alcohol was the biggest challenge of every weekend--just kidding, mom (I'm actually not kidding, mom).

It's been about three years since I started my first year at ISU, and now I'm about to begin my last. Through the difficult math classes, friend drama, breakups, and ultimate struggles that have joined me during my time as a college student, I never really thought about the person I would be as I was completing my final lap before graduation. But as I contemplate my progression, I have to say that I feel a little proud. Small, quiet Baby Becca has so quickly transformed into the boisterous, no nonsense, confident woman that she always wanted to be. Finally, I am proud of the person I have become.

Throughout the year, I will be writing about the basic struggles of my senior year. I want to keep up a pretty realistic blog that explores some of the biggest highs and lows of being a college student approaching graduation. Laugh at my issues, relate to my stories, and witness my growth as I tie up my loose ends at Illinois State.
